Annual report 2020 of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board STSB

Bern, 17.09.2021 - The annual report 2020 of the Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board is available on the website of the STSB. It reports on the activities of the STSB of the last year. The STSB’s objective and unprejudiced investigations of safety-relevant incidents make an important contribution to safety in public transport, aviation and both inland and maritime navigation. The work of the aviation division in 2020 was again marked by the investigation into the crash of the Junkers Ju 52 in August 2018. The final report, which contains eight safety recommendations and seven safety advices, was completed in 2020 and published at the beginning of this year with nine annexes and an illustrative explanatory video. The prevention of safety gaps in rail transport is becoming increasingly complex with developments such as infrastructure expansion, new rolling stock and increased timetable density, and is bringing the change management of transport companies into focus. In addition, the incidents reported to the STSB concerning rail traffic suggest an increasing trend of incidents related to construction sites. Read more about this in the annual report 2020. Yours faithfully, Swiss Transportation Safety Investigation Board STSB
